Compete against yourself, NOT OTHERS!



Before I started competing in pageants, I perceived pageants as glorified competition to pin women against one another. And it wasn't until I started researching pageantry and then competing in my first pageant that I realized I was wrong. Yes, pageants are competition.  Yes, there can only be one winner. Yes, judges are scoring you. BUT, you are not competing against the other contestants, you're competing against yourself! In fact, preparing for pageants has helped grow into the best version of myself. I am confidently successful whether or not I take home the crown–– I am successful because I made it to the pageant.

I enjoyed this competing in Miss Florida USA because I had the opportunity to meet such amazing women throughout the weekend. Every woman competing at Miss FLUSA was the definition of confidently successful–– it was inspiring to befriend so many incredible women. Throughout the weekend, I had to remind myself that this was in a competition. However, I was able to gain so much from this experience because I didn't compare myself to other women––I empowered them––and that is what I hope every woman will feel inspired to do. 








Once you are confident in yourself, it's natural for you to want to encourage others to gain self-confidence as well. So I hope to encourage every woman reading this blog to feel empowered to chase her dreams! With so much negativity in this world, it is essential for women to uplift each other!

The Life of a Journalism Student

The life of a journalism student at UF is challenging. I find myself spending countless hours in the newsroom improving my craft and creating content for WUFT . One of my favorite things about the program is the immersion experiences. My sophomore year, I started working for ESPN Gainesville WRUF as a radio anchor and multimedia sports journalist. Every Friday night I would travel to local high school football games writing articles and shooting video for the First at Five show. Eventually, I had the opportunity to serve as the beat reporter for the Florida basketball and gymnastics teams. I was responsible for attending every home game/meet and providing live and pre-recorded content for our target audience on multimedia platforms .  My love for journalism and content creation only grew as I gained more experience. Crafting the Perfect Résumé

In essence, your résumé your main marketing tool.  When applying for a job, your goal should be to market yourself to the employer that you're his or her ideal candidate for the job. The best way to showcase your skills is by having a stellar résumé. As my college graduation is just over a month away, I am continually updating my résumé and portfolio website.  Here are some tips to consider when completing your résumé.  1. Tailor your résumé to the job.  Not every job is the same, so it is essential to make sure your résumé includes keywords or phrases from the job posting . Most employers do not actually look through all the 100+ résumés.
